Shayla - Licensed Massage Therapist
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Shayla, a United States Air Force veteran and a mother to two beautiful daughters. I am an avid video game enthusiast who also loves cooking, baking and all manner of arts & crafts.
Why did you become a massage therapist?
I spent some time as a personal trainer in the USAF. I worked with a contracted massage therapist and grew to highly depend on massage to get active duty military in tip-top shape during their intense workout regimens. I feel like massage has a place in every stage of physical health — whether it is maintenance or recovery.
Where & When did you go to school?
I graduated from Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage in 2018.
What modalities do you specialize in?
I specialize in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Therapeutic, Prenatal, Trigger-point and myofascial release
List any dysfunctions and acute/chronic conditions you have treated or particularly specialize in:
Sciatica pain, Fibromyalgia, Anxiety/Depression/Insomnia, Headaches, Overuse Syndromes, and any form of chronic pain my client is experiencing, from head to toe
Why is massage important to you?
I love being able to help people feel their absolute best. Massage is my ‘why’ of giving back to the world. I think that the mind-body connection has incredible power and massage can help to guide the body to heal itself.
How would you describe your style of massage:
My style of massage is tailored to fit each and every client. If someone needs a thorough and deep tissue massage to heal one are of the body, then that is my style. But if someone needs to let go of the world and relax, then a gentle and slow touch is my style. My style is whatever my client needs it to be for that session!
What keeps you motivated?
My biggest motivator is massage itself and my belief that massage is what I am meant to do with my life. So, being able to wake up in the morning knowing that I’m going to work to help people and make a difference in their life is my motivation!
