Lisa - Licensed Massage Therapist
Who are you?
Hello, my name is Lisa and I am a proud Coast Guard wife and mother to two teenage girls. I love hiking, kayaking or anything on or near the water. I also enjoy cooking for my family and attending my daughters’ performances for band and soccer.
Why did you become a massage therapist?
I became a massage therapist because of the impact massage has on someone’s body and health. As a mother to active and athletic daughters and a wife to a military member, I began to see many opportunities for massage to be a natural and healthy alternative to help them heal and maintain their active lifestyles! Massage is such a part of any health regimen.
Where & When did you go to school?
In 2018, I attended and graduated from Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage in Falls Church.
What modalities do you specialize in?
I use many different modalities in my massage technique, individualized for each client and their current needs. I specialize in sports massage; increasing range of motion, and decreasing pain due to tension and exercise.
List any dysfunctions and acute/chronic conditions you have treated or particularly specialize in:
I have treated frozen shoulder, limited range of motion dysfunctions in the neck/shoulder, sciatica pain, lower back discomfort and hip/thigh muscle strains
Why is massage important to you?
My husband used to be in constant pain, my kids would come to me with injuries from sports and I felt helpless in being able to assist them in healing and feeling better. When I did some research and learned about the wide range of benefits massage has on the body, mind and spirit, I was eager to learn. I originally got into massage to help my family, but I soon realized the joy it brought me to help someone feel better and heal! I am proud to say that being a mom and a wife was my full time job for over a decade, but I am happy to now say that being a massage therapist has added significantly to my joy and fulfillment.
How would you describe your style of massage:
My style of massage is client focused. Every massage is different than the last. I begin every massage with a conversation about what needs to be addressed and plan the session around accomplishing goals for each client. Whether that means providing a relaxing massage or dealing with an injury or helping relieve any chronic pain.
What keeps you motivated?
Change. Seeing the change and all the improvements after every massage I give, reminds me why I first fell in love massage!
