Amber - Licensed Massage Therapist
Who are you?
Hi, I’m Amber! I grew up in Alexandria, VA. I graduated from Shenandoah University with my Bachelors in Exercise Science. After graduation I worked in a Physical Therapy location and then decided to go back to school to become a Licensed Massage Therapist. I’ve always been into sports. In high school I cheered and played soccer. In my free time now, I do crossfit and occasionally participate in a few competitions throughout the year.
Why did you become a Massage Therapist?
Playing sports my whole life and seeing lots of injuries, including knee injuries of my own, I always knew I wanted to be involved in helping other get back to doing what they love to do. I first shadowed and did an internship with an Athletic Trainer. Following college, I went into working with a physical therapist and just felt it wasn’t the right fit for me. I then explored massage therapy and realized what an impact we can make in others lives and really felt massage therapy was the right place for me!
Where did you go to school?
I went to Miller-Motte Technical College in Conway Southern Carolina. I graduated in May 2019.
What Modalities do you specialize in?
I am very interested and drawn to specializing in Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point, and use of tools such as graston and cupping.
List any dysfunctions and acute/chronic conditions you have treated or particularly specialize in.
Low back pain, shoulder pain and loss of ROM, neck issues and many others.
Why is Massage important to you?
Massage is important to me because I know and have seen the positive impact we can have on others. I love being able to help others get back to feeling good and doing what they love!
How do you describe your style of Massage?
My style is individualized to each persons needs. Every client will be different and want a different pressure or modality used. I try my best to find and figure out the root of each individuals issue so I can get them back to feeling 100%!
What keeps you motivated?
I love learning new things and getting to help more and more people. I’m motivated to help as many people as I can and to do that, I must keep finding and learning new techniques and modalities.
